Why is Ionity so expensive without a subscription?

The ad-hoc price of €0.79/kWh covers the cost of operating 350-kW hardware at premium motorway locations. With a partner rate (from €0.30/kWh) the price drops to a competitive level.

Which Ionity partner rate is cheapest?

The cheapest Ionity rate is currently WeCharge (VW Group) at €0.30/kWh. For BMW and ADAC customers €0.35/kWh is available. The Ionity Passport itself costs €12.99/month for €0.35/kWh.

Which cars can charge at Ionity?

All EVs with a CCS connector can charge at Ionity – that covers virtually all modern European electric vehicles. Older CHAdeMO vehicles (e.g. Nissan Leaf) cannot charge at Ionity.

How fast do you really charge at Ionity?

The maximum charge rate depends on the vehicle, not the charger. A Hyundai IONIQ 6 charges at 233 kW, a VW ID.4 at 135 kW, a Tesla Model 3 at 250 kW. Most cars do 10–80 % in 20–30 minutes on a 350-kW Ionity charger.
